Unable to attend the practice unaided? Midlands Opticians offers a specialist home eye care service - we take care of everything from home eye tests and dispensing of glasses to our comprehensive aftercare service!
If you are unable to leave home unaccompanied because of physical or mental disability, you may qualify for our NHS domiciliary service. Our optometrist and his team of experienced dispensers will come out to your residence and conduct the complete eye examination there.
Our Optometrist will prescribe for you and recommend the right lenses that will both give you the quality of vision that you deserve, to perfectly complement your daily needs as well as your life style. Our dedicated dispensing team will also bring a wide selection of frames for you to choose from, and will help to ensure that they fit correctly and that they are the perfect match for you.
You will also have the choice of our full range of frames, from the great value of our high quality NHS range to our exclusive designer collections.
Am I Entitled to an NHS-Funded Mobile Sight Test?
You are entitled to a free, NHS-funded mobile sight test (also known as a domiciliary sight test) if you are:
in your own home, but are unable to leave unaccompanied because of physical or mental illness or disability;
at a residential or care home, if you normally live there and are also unable to leave unaided because of the above;
at a day centre, if you would have difficulty getting a sight test from an optometrist in-practice because of physical or mental illness or disability, or because you have difficulty communicating your health needs without help.
If you usually have your sight test on the NHS, your home eye test will still be free of charge as the NHS covers the cost if you are unable to come into the practice unaided. Please note we will need a minimum of 48 hours notice for appointment bookings, and 5 days if your place of residence is outside of the Midlands.
For more information and to book a domiciliary sight test either for yourself or for a patient or family member in your care, contact us at your nearest branch.
